Le Val la Reine, a long-term story: from earth rooms to guest rooms…
Before becoming the famous Clos de Grâce, this property bore the evocative name of Val la Reine. Going back in time, we discover that it was Thibault Moulin who laid the first stones of this building in 1652. Thibault MOULIN, master of ship residing in Honfleur begins a long series of gatherings of pieces of land in the town of Equemauville, the beginnings of the domain of Val la Reine, of which he becomes the owner. At the time, the site was an important symbol, embodying the wealth and prestige of its owner.
In 1727, he had The Manor built. His son Olivier Moulin, merchant-trader and alderman in the government of Honfleur will inherit it and continue the extension of the estate.
The fascinating history of Val la Reine
Over the decades, Val la Reine has seen several influential families, including the Warrain family in 1888

The Warrain family became the owner of Val la Reine in 1888 until 2000, when Michel Serrault and his wife acquired it to live there for about ten years.
Each owner has left their mark on this place, preserving its heritage while contributing to its successive transformations. This continuity in the preservation of heritage testifies to the cultural importance of the site and its resistance to the passage of time.
From Michel Serrault to Héloïse and Olivier Moncelet
The year 2000 marks a pivotal period in the history of the estate with the arrival of Michel Serrault, a renowned French actor, who was able to give back to Val la Reine its lost splendor. His passion for art and heritage has preserved the very essence of the place during these crucial years.
When Héloïse and Olivier Moncelet took possession of the estate in 2010, they set out to transform it into a space dedicated to welcoming visitors from all over the world. Their vision was clear: to combine modernity and tradition in order to offer a unique experience to each client. The guest rooms they create are synonymous with comfort and refinement, harmoniously integrated into the centuries-old history of the site.
The transformation into charming guest rooms.
The transformation carried out by Héloïse and Olivier Moncelet was not limited to a few development works. They chose to keep the soul of the place while adding a contemporary touch essential to seduce a demanding clientele. The materials used during the renovation were carefully chosen to ensure authenticity and quality.
Each room at the Clos de Grâce tells a story, paying homage to the region’s heritage while offering the modern comfort expected by today’s travelers. The common areas, for their part, were designed as places of relaxation conducive to meetings and exchanges between hosts.
