Le Clos de Grâce à Honfleur

A common passion…

Eloise et Olivier Moncelet

Heloise et Olivier Moncelet

At the end of two beautiful careers and some inspirational trips, it is in Honfleur, in the heart of Normandy that Héloïse and Olivier decided in 2010 to settle down at Val la Reine to create prestigious guest rooms.

The splendour of the estate has quickly won over the owners who are beginning important restoration and expansion works. They wish to make it a charming place, dedicated to luxury, well-being and relaxation.

Louise et Sukru Karaca

We met about ten years ago in Crete where we worked together for a French tour operator. After beautiful years on this island, we made the wise decision to return to France. Working together was a matter of course and we had to continue to leverage our know-how in terms of customer relations. We then managed together a 5-star hotel in the Loire region … A beautiful green region but the sea was much too far for us … In the absence of beautiful castles of the Loire, we had a crush on the Normandy region but especially for the domain of Clos de Grâce.

Héloise and Olivier shared their expectations and trust with us, which immediately appealed to us.

They entrusted us with the keys to their domain and now it’s up to us to make the clients happy….

Discover the Clos de Grâce team

In order to make your stay as pleasant as possible, a whole team operates, sometimes in the shadows, so that your experience is as pleasant as possible.

Upon your arrival, after having crossed the entrance gate, you discover a part of our estate, and the external aspect is important in your welcome. It’s the business of Patrick, our gardener, who spends hours taking care of flowers, trees, shrubs and all those details that make the beauty of a park with impeccable lawns.

Taking care of the Clos de Grâce does not stop outside. Isabelle and Marine are responsible for the cleanliness of the rooms, the swimming pool, fitness room, massages and all these places that you will discover.

Michaela, for her part, will welcome you, take you to your room, take care of your breakfast…

Discover Honfleur, the Pays d'Auge and the Côte Fleurie

Honfleur is a Norman pearl that lends itself wonderfully to a discovery stay of 2 or 3 days. Here is a proposed itinerary to make the most of its charm and its immediate surroundings:

Theme of the stay: Maritime charm, Art and Norman Panoramas

The Essentials of Honfleur (to be spread over 2 or 3 days):

  1. Le Vieux Bassin: The vibrant heart and postcard of Honfleur. Stroll along the quays (Quai Sainte-Catherine and Quai Saint-Étienne), admire the tall, narrow houses with their colorful facades and the reflections of the boats. It is the ideal place to soak up the atmosphere.
  2. The Church of Saint Catherine: Unique in France, it is entirely built in wood by the town’s naval carpenters. Do not miss its separate bell tower, also made of wood, which looks like a small independent building. Take the opportunity to push the door of some art galleries, you are in the right place!
  3. La Lieutenance: Former residence of the King’s lieutenant, this building marks the entrance to the Old Basin and is one of the oldest in the city.
Les Greniers à Sel: Imposing 17th century buildings that were used to store salt for cod fishing. They now host exhibitions, seminars and concerts. Check their programming.
  4. Le Quartier Sainte-Catherine: Lose yourself in the cobbled streets around the church, with its half-timbered houses, small artisan shops and art galleries.
    The Museums:
  5. Musée Eugène Boudin: Indispensable for art lovers, it presents works by the precursor of Impressionism, a painter native to Honfleur, as well as other artists who painted the region (Monet, Courbet, Dufy).
  6. Les Maisons Satie: An original scenographic and musical journey in the birthplace of the composer Erik Satie. Playful and surprising.
  7. La Chapelle Notre-Dame de Grâce: Located on the heights, it offers an exceptional panorama of Honfleur, the estuary of the Seine and the Pont de Normandie. Accessible on foot (a good climb!) or by car. It is a pilgrimage site steeped in history.
  8. The Garden of Personalities: Below the Notre-Dame de Grâce Chapel, a pleasant landscaped promenade with the busts of famous characters linked to Honfleur and Normandy.
